A Post for Jess

Little did I know, choosing to volunteer to be a part of a youth ministry would bring me here today. Today my family and I have the honor of sharing in the celebration of David and Jessica’s wedding- two young adults who we met through our youth ministry.

As week after week I said goodbye to my husband and kiddos to listen to teenage girls regurgitate the same friend drama, boyfriend mishaps, and parent issues… I was privileged to meet some incredible young people- like Jess and David. From Wednesday nights to days and nights spent at our house. Adrian and I were able to feed, pray, and be a part of God’s story unfolding in the choices these who made.

Today we are honored to stand by their side as they become husband and wife.

Jessica’s Poem

Through all of the years

The waves and tides

Jessica, so much has happened

but no matter the distance

you’ve been by my side

It all began in highchool

Closets, bathrooms and late nights

Dance recitals, drama,

Boyfriends, break ups

new friends and old fights

As my family grew

with Traurig baby #2 and 3

you were quick to come to my rescue

when I called you in need

Then into college,

major changes and life choices

you still chose to visit and call

me as one of those “voices”

So many of us today

Have been blessed to have you by our side

Jessica you are fun, beautiful, and talented

Thank you for privileging myself and others

And taking us along for the ride

Today it is my turn

To stand beside you

As you give your whole heart to David

And commit your “I dos”

No greater guy, Jessica

Could you have picked to be your man

David you too are incredible

A young man of integrity and faith

I’ve always said “I am a fan” J

From this day on

David will be first by your side

With God as your foundation

His Word and Spirit

As your guide.

May you two be blessed

By the love and friendship Adrian and I have found

Except my prayer is that your marriage blessing

is even more multiplied

And that your joys abound.

Congratulations Jess and Dave.
