In Christ we lose the right to be right

I am amazed when I look back on 2011 and the few months of 2012. I truly feel that God has walked beside me through some incredibly dry valleys and some incredibly humbling heights. I have learned so much from others and from studying scripture this year. I have learned so much as a wife, mother, sister, friend, pastor’s wife, woman, and Christ follower. One of the greatest truths that I feel God has taught me over and other again this year I include below. How does it resonate with what is going on in your life?

“In Christ we lose the right to be right.”

Matthew 10:38-39 (NIV) (This quote can be found in all of the Gospels so it must be important.) ” ‘Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.'”
Luke 17:3-4 (NIV) So watch yourselves.“If your brother or sister[a] sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”

  1. I tried to comment from my phone yesterday but it didn’t work, what I wanted to say was thank you. I am trying to do a better job of “hearing” God. Today’s lesson in church spoke to having faith and one thing the pastor said that resonated with me was “Sin, especially unforgiveness, can block the healing power of God.” And then your message here and Scott and I had decided that on Sunday night we’d start the 7 day Grace YouVersion study. It all fits together so I guess we needed to hear this. Thank you for being God’s messenger even if you didn’t know you were helping me “hear” better.

  2. Wow! That is incredible. I am so humbled because I know it was not me but God using my silly little post to speak something so much more profound to you. Thanks for sharing Beth. The 7 Day study is such an incredible idea!
