How do I leverage my life for His?
Often I feel that I excuse things in my life to put off action I need to practice now. “If only I was___./ If only I had ___./ If only I was like___…” Whether it is my busyness, spiritual sloppiness, physical ugliness, talkativeness, financial lacking… – I could type paragraphs on what I feel I need to really “improve” before God can do something through me. I sometimes feel that God understands because there is a good chance He wouldn’t want me to “represent” him until I had all my “ducks in a row” anyway. The irony: I have about as much control over what life I was born into and what my physical appearance would be as I do making the sun rise every morning.
What if God is able to use me no matter what my circumstance is? Is God limited in who and when He can work? When I make excuses am I keeping God’s Holy Spirit from moving in my life? Do I believe that God made a mistake by making me the way I am and/or giving me the life I have?
Let’s stop setting up “conditions” for Him. When Jesus died and rose from the dead, it was almost like God said, “See, there is NO circumstance too ‘impossible’ for me to work in.” If God can use death (of Christ) to be a story of how awesome He is, then there is nothing short of death(resurrection) in our lives that He can’t work in. So, let’s start leveraging our circumstances!
We cannot always change our circumstances but we can always change our perspectives. I did not choose my face but I choose my perspective about my face. I did not choose my parents but I choose my perspective about my family. I did not choose my circumstance but I can choose my perspective about it.
Where are you? Who are you? Can you choose a perspective that allows God to work in your life in the midst of any circumstance? God only made one YOU. He wants to use YOU and have a relationship with YOU. Let Him! There is no going back in your life but only moving forward. Don’t let your perspective on your circumstance limit our God. Start leveraging your circumstance to bring Him glory! Once you do, you will be amazed at what our God can do.

I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
