Sugar Free 5 Minute Granola Bars


My littles LOVE to snack. I feel like I am always trying to find good food to fill their bellies. This recipe has become one of the kids’ favorites. The original recipe calls for sugar but I omit that. {adapted from SimplyShellie.com} Paleo, Whole 30, and Gluten Free Adapted.

To make a 9×13 pan of granola Bars:

In a large bowl combine these 4 ingredients and set aside:

  • 3 1/2- 4 cups quick oats (simple use gluten free oats and this recipe is gluten free Granola Bars)
  • 2 cups Rice Krispies 
  • 3/4 cup flax seed (optional)
  • 1 cup of additional fun: raisins, chocolate chips, almond slivers… etc. 

In a microwavable bowl (or small saucepan on the stove) melt together:

  • 1 1/3 cups honey (use raw local honey- this is GREAT for kids with allergies)
  • 1tsp of vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cup peanut butter (don’t skimp on this. Check the labels on the “peanut butter” you buy. Most popular brands are made with “peanut spread” and sugar. Instead find peanut butter where the only ingredients are peanuts, salt, and oil.) I have found the store brand at Target and Publix are best. This is key to keeping the recipe sugar free and and good for kids sensitive to various allergies.

Combine all the ingredients and press down into a 9×13 pan. Press down firmly.

Refrigerate for at least an hour and then cut into bars. 

Store in the fridge or in an airtight container out for the littles to grab.

My 3 year old also loves to crumble up her granola and eat in yogurt.
