Lately I have been all over Pinterest looking for fun ideas to do with the kids this Summer. This morning one classic activity hit me… Marshmallows and toothpicks!!
For my kids- who love building with legos- this new edible activity was perfect!
Now if you don’t know me already, I couldn’t just leave it there. How can I use this time to teach my kids some basic truth about God?
The marshmallows remind us of how sweet it is to trust God.
When we trust him, He can do really cool things through us and with us. A toothpick may be pretty neat on its on but what cool things can you create when a toothpick is connected to a marshmallow? Sweet, right?
UPDATE: When we were talking about this game… Madi told me trusting God is like “sticking” with Him. I LOVE it! My 5 year old came up with a better illustration for this activity than me. 🙂
Talk about what it means to trust God. When have you had to trust God? What sweet thing has he created in your life because of your choice to trust?
Okay, so that may not be the best or most profound Teachable Moment so far but the purpose was there.
What great teachable moment ideas can you think of using toothpicks and marshmallows? Please share!
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 11:18-19
