Today Only: Under Questionable Management

Today let’s choose…

To live for yourself – the road may ultimately be lonely
To live for your kids- the road may ultimately be lacking
To live for your spouse- the road may ultimately be resentful
To live for your plans- the road may ultimately be a dead end
To live for your worries- the road ultimately be frustrating

No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. Matthew 6:24 (also in Luke 16:13 and Acts 17:11- referencing the love of money)

Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ – Mark 12:29-30

When I was younger I heard a simple truth that has transformed nearly every day of my life: Every morning I get the new opportunity to choose who and what will dictate my day. In other words, just because I asked God to lead me yesterday does not necessarily mean my heart is in line with His today. Likewise, just because I really messed up yesterday doesn’t mean I can’t ask God to dictate my day today. To “dictate my day” can also be thought of as “manage my” thoughts, words, and actions. Another way to say it is to “LORD over” my day. Choose today, will God be your LORD God?

Let the One who knit you together, bless the intricate fibers unique to you in the fabric of your life- today (Psalm 139). In other words, if we choose today to let God Lord over our day, then and only then are we giving him freedom to make a difference deep in the details of our lives.

To live for Christ as Lord- the road ultimately leads to a full life and
an extraordinary Friday. 😉

For to me, living means living for Christ… Philippians 1:21(NLT)
